Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp

Comfortable Jungle and Beachfront Lodging

THE TENTS
Facing the ocean, backed by the jungle
this is as close to nature as real comfort will allow. Tarp-roofed shelters keep your tent cool and dry, and an elevated wooden palette gets you well off the ground while affording a spacious front porch for a couple of armchairs. Outfitted with full-size beds, bedding and night tables; each tent is strategically positioned to provide privacy and a spectacular Pacific view. Whether taking in the sunset over a cool drink on your own verandah, or screened in at night listening to the sounds of the jungle, you will find your Corcovado Adventures tent surprisingly comfortable. We give new meaning to the idea of roughing it.
THE KITCHEN & DINING HALL:
Individual trails lead from each tent to the gathering area, a "rancho" that serves as a dining hall and a place to meet for adventure planning sessions, afternoon coffee, reading, or simply a snooze in a hammock. Meals are served family style at long wooden tables.
THE FOOD:
Our kitchen serves three meals a day and offers a truly international cuisine, ranging from typical Costa Rican cuisine, to fresh catch-of-the-day, to spicy bar-b-que. Fresh salads, plenty of vegetables, rice and beans complement the chef's main course; and we blend tropical fruit drinks for every meal. Chicken and meat dishes are also prepared for variety. Our chef will surprise you with exotic appetizers such as fresh ceviche, sushi or sashimi. With prior request, we'll gladly prepare special menus.

THE BATH HOUSE:
Communal bathhouses are located on a rise behind the dining hall, connected by paved paths. Roomy showers and changing areas are clean and comfortable with a separate area devoted to laundry. A mountain spring nearby provides plenty of refreshing water.
We provide comfortable accommodations in full-size tents with wood-frame beds. Our tents are covered by a large tarp to protect them from the tropic sun & rain. Each has a front deck with chairs & a great view of the Pacific Ocean! The meals we provide are delicious & filling, a healthy & balanced diet of Tico & International Cuisine!.
We offer our guests all-day guided tours to explore Corcovado National Park & Cano Island Biological Reserve; & have activities such as horseback riding, hiking, kayaking & sport fishing to offer our guests.

Dolphin Watch:
The Southern Pacific waters of Costa Rica are known as breeding grounds for several species of dolphin and whale. Bottlenose dolphins, spotted dolphins and spinners make their home here, swimming in enormous schools, as well as humpback and pilot whales, which sometimes can be seen breaching with a calf in tow. The upsweeping of nutrients from the nearby continental shelf provides sustenance for a massive food chain, from plankton to whales. Tuna are particularly abundant in the area; therefore, so are dolphins. With the backdrop of Cano Island, this is an adventure in beauty, light and motion. You'll spend your time gasping at the natural grace of these exquisite creatures as they arc through the wake of your boat, shoot beneath and resurface, flying across the bow. With sun, sea and the dolphin silver bullets, this is a tour you won't want to miss. Full day excursion to Dolphin Watch $60/person (4 minimum). |
Bird Rookery:
A 30-minute afternoon boat ride brings you to Isla Violin, a rocky island jutting out of the Pacific where Boobies, Man-O-Wars, Pelicans and other frigate birds make their home and breeding grounds. From your deck you'll be able to observe the birds at close range without disturbing them. Watch carefully as aviary rituals of courting, feeding, and territorial battles unfold in a drama unlike any you've seen before. The three-hour round-trip tour includes a cooler full of soft drinks and questions answered by your naturalist guide. Bring your binoculars and camera on this trip. You won't believe your eyes! Full day excursion to Bird Rookery:$60/person (4 minimum). |
